New Bikes, New Team Mates and The First Team Training Ride

Our team bikes arrived on Sunday. I was like a kid on Christmas as thousands of dollars worth of shiny new bikes and components filled up our garage. We are lucky that Cinelli are sponsoring us this year and providing us with SRAM red shifters and derailleur’s, FSA cranks and brakes as well as FSA wheels for racing on and topping it all off with a prologo saddle.

It was so exciting to go for a ride on it. The bike felt as good as it looked it was so responsive and felt so fast on the road.

On Wednesday we had our first team-training ride along the route of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. It was the first chance to meet Frank Vandenbroucke and the majority of the team and get to know them out on the road. Even though we aren’t racing Omloop this weekend riding on Wednesday was great because all the big teams were doing their reconnaissance for the weekends race. Media was everywhere and we were even followed by TV cameras for a while. At the end of the day it was great hard training and reintroduction to Belgian cobbles.

I am not in the best form at the moment thanks to the time I had to take off the bike in January and early February. However, my body has been responding and recovering well from the training I have been doing. So hopefully I find form soon. Until then I will be grovelling for a while. You got to love it though.
